One of the commissioners of the Northbrook Community Relations Commission and the chair of the Asian Heritage subcommittee has asked the Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP) – TACL Chicago to run one of their booths at the 2012 Taste of Asia (sponsored by the Northbrook Community Relations Commission). This event will take place on Sunday, May 6th, 2012 from 1-4pm at the North Suburban YMCA in Northbrook, IL.

This annual event is open to the public with free admission so please invite your friends as well! It will feature the diversity of Asian culture with art exhibitions and demonstrations, music and dance performances, and a wide selection of delicious dishes. TAP-TACL Chicago will be running the Taiwanese puppet booth, so stop by and say hi! They will also need help setting up, so please contact Stephanie Huang if you have some time to contribute that day: stephanie.huang@tap-chicago.org.

Come join the Taiwanese American Professionals in Chicago and cute middle school students from Project Vision to clean up Chinatown’s Ping Tom Park! Ping Tom Park was created in 1999 and spans 17 acres, 6 of which are developed. It has accumulated much trash over the years, so TA Professionals in Chicago, Project Vision, and CASL are teaming up to restore the park to its original state of cleanliness.

Project Vision is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide educational, professional, and interpersonal development support to the youth of Chinatown and Bridgeport. Each Chicago TAP volunteer will get to partner up with a student during the park cleanup, the goal of which is to spark interest in mentoring/tutoring for Project Vision.

This is a FREE event! Supplies and baked goods will be provided by CASL. Bubble tea provided by a Chinatown establishment – TBD.

Taiwanese American Professionals – Chicago is excited to host our first joint event with NU’s Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association (ITASA) and Taiwanese American Students Club (TASC) at Clark Street Beach in Evanston this Sunday.
