The Taiwanese American community, organizations, and issues have grown and evolved for almost half a century, and one question continually re-emerges: Will the next generation get involved and carry on the work of the prior generation? Ho Chie Tsai, a long-time community organizer, youth advocate, and the founder of TaiwaneseAmerican.org, has played an integral role in the development of many 2nd generation community organizations, conferences, and projects over the past three decades. He will share his personal experiences and perspectives on the dynamics within the youth, collegiate, and young professional Taiwanese American community. By understanding some key generational issues and themes, leaders across organizations may be able to more effectively interact and then transition the values and visions to be carried on into the future. We will explore some concrete ideas to move the future of the Taiwanese American community forward with the ideals set forth by the 1st generation.

His presentation, titled Shaping the Future of the Taiwanese American Community, will be followed by a Panel Discussion.
