The 20th Annual North America Taiwanese Women’s Association (NATWA, 北美洲台灣婦女會) will be held in Los Angeles on April 18-20, 2008.
NATWA II, young professional division of NATWA, will host its 3rd Annual program, including film screening, downtown cultural tour, panel on “Our Voices for Human Rights,” and discussion on “Women Juggling Career, Family, Self and Taiwanese Community.”
The North America Taiwanese Women’s Association (NATWA) will host its 20th Annual Convention on April 18-20 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, 404 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles. NATWA was founded to empower women by facilitating social support and leadership development for Taiwanese immigrants 20 years ago. The objectives have been expanded to preserve cultural heritage and encourage civic participation among Taiwanese American families. In addition, since the establishment of NATWA II, young professional Taiwanese American women have a new platform to showcase their talents, learn their heritages, and gain personal and professional development through this new network.

Keynote address by Freddy Lim (閃靈樂團主唱), lead singer and founder of Chthonic Band (in Holo Taiwanese and Mandarin on Saturday, April 19, 9:00am-12:00pm).*
Keynote address by Dr. Eng-Wen Tsai (蔡英文), former Chairwoman of Mainland Affairs Council (in Holo Taiwanese and Mandarin on Saturday, April 19, 9:00am-12:00pm).*
Discussion led by Dr. Michi Fu on “Balancing Act: Women Juggling Career, Family, Self and the Taiwanese Community” (in English on Saturday, April 19, 2:00pm-4:30pm).**
Mini-Film Screening featuring Marilyn Fu, Karen Lin and Stephanie Yang. (in English on Saturday, April 19, 4:30-6:30pm).
Los Angeles Night: A night of music and honors performed by top international musicians who will pay a tribute to the past 20 years of NATWA leadership and 100 years of Taiwan history (in both English and Holo Taiwanese on Saturday, April 19, 7:30-9:30pm).
NATWA II Main Panel: “Taiwanese American Women: Our Voices for Human Rights” (in English on Sunday, April 20, 9:00am-11:30am). Women leaders working for non-profits across the U. S. will share their journeys on advocating for human rights in the fields of employment, youth and education, immigration, women and family, and gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered people.***
Mini “Made in Taiwan” exhibit: Creative and artistic items from Modern Taiwan (Apr. 19).
