Nicaragua Medical Mission and Tour 8/12 to 8/21 (and NATMA-SCC president Dr. Lai's message)

***To sign up for Medical/Dental Mission Trip to Nicaragua or for more details, please contact NATMA Southern California Chapter president Dr. Yin Lai at yinhlai@gmail.com***

Dear NATMA members:

I'm pleased to inform you that we had several successful events since our last newsletter. During April, NATMA Southern California Chapter held its annual Spring Hiking event. And in May, as part of the Taiwan Heritage Week celebration, NATMA-SCC participated in TaiwanFest in Los Angeles on May 10 and 11 and co-sponsored Taiwan Cup for Golf on May 14. On both days of TaiwanFest, we provided first-aid services for attendees. And on the 11th we held a Free Medical Clinic for consultations, blood pressure check, and blood sugar check and a Free Dental Clinic for oral health screening and teeth cleaning.

After successful medical/dental missions to Panama, Guatemala, and Haiti, NATMA-SCC and NATMA Foundation have together planned yet another medical/dental mission to Nicaragua. We will be working with the Taiwan Root, a medical mission group from Taiwan, on this mission and we also have full support of Taiwan's Embassador to Nicaragua. We believe that we will be able to acheive our goals of providing needed medical/dental services and getting Taiwan's name out there on the international stage through our efforts.

Post-mission tours are being planned also. The trip will be from August 12 to August 21--

8/12 (Tue): arrive in Nicaragua

8/13 (Wed): Official/governmental visitations in the morning; Medical Mission organizational meeting and organizing pharmaceutical products

8/14 to 8/17 (Thurs - Sun): Four-Day Medical Mission, in cooperation with Taiwan Root, at surrouding towns; including half-day of serving Taiwanese immigrants and members of the local media

8/18 to 8/21 (Mon - Thurs): Nicaragua tour (including a cruise, staying at a 5-star ocean-side resort, hours riding, water-sports, visiting a casino and a crafts market

Costs--

at Crown Plaza: double-occupancy room with breakfast is $50 per person per day (5 days total). With 4-day/3-night tour at the mission, the estimated cost per person is $650.
