The Overseas Young Health Professionals Program is organized by the OCAC, and brings medical and health professionals back to Taiwan to learn about issues relevant to Taiwan. The program is designed for young (under age 40, must be born after 1/1/1967) generation Taiwanese-Americans to learn about Taiwanese culture, the health care system, public health policies in Taiwan, and the WHO issue (to assist Taiwan in becoming a member at World Health Organization).
* Dates in Taiwan are from 9/9/2007 to 9/14/2007 (six days, five nights). The application is now available and interested applicants should email the application and a recent photo to Ms. Jennifer Hsia at the Culture Center of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles (Santa Ana).

Brief notes about the trip:- 27 individuals will be selected from the U.S. along with 2nd-generation Taiwanese from three other Countries-- New Zealand (1 spot), Australia (1 spot), England (1 spot), and Canada (5 spots)
- Examples of qualified health care professionals include physicians, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, public health professionals, hospital administrators, medical students, etc.
- Food, lodging, travel/transportation, and insurance during the stay in Taiwan will be sponsored by OCAC (Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission, R.O.C.), but any family member(s) traveling along are excluded.
- Hotel accommodation in Taipei (northern area) is one person per hotel room. However, hotel accommodation in TaiNan (southern area) will be two persons per hotel room. If you do not wish to share a hotel room during the visit in the south, please inform Jennifer ahead of time and pay the difference out of pocket.
- Air travel to Taiwan may be partially sponsored, please retain your receipt and a copy of your plane ticket. This will be processed during the visit in Taiwan.
- The Program includes (English) seminars/ talks (from Taiwanese scholars and government agencies), visitations (with Taiwan's Department of Health, various non-profit medical organizations in health care research and development, teaching hospitals, and southern industrial park), exchange of ideas (regarding medical, public health, and WHO issues), and a cultural tour in TaiNan area.
- If the group of selected/ recommended applicants is less than 20 in total number, this year's program is subject to be cancelled.
