The 2009 NATMA 2G National Conference

in conjunction with the NATMA Southern California Annual Meeting in Los Angeles!



Each year, the local Southern California chapter of the North American Taiwanese Medical Association hosts a premier gathering of medical and health professionals from the Taiwanese American community, with medical education programs and credits available to its participants.

Now, as the 2nd generation community continues to grow and network nationwide, we are pleased to also bring to you the 2009 NATMA 2G National Conference! NATMA Foundation 2009 Scholarship

NATMA Foundation is offering five (5) $ 1,000 scholarship grants to recognize medical/dental/allied health students, residents or fellow-in-training of Taiwanese American descent.

Eligibility


Medical, dental or allied health students, residents or fellows of Taiwanese American descent who are in good standing and under training at an accredited U.S. institution or program.

Application process

Complete and submit the following items:

1. Application Form with Photo Attached. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD
2. Personal Statement ( one page, single spaced )
3. College or Graduate School Transcript
4. Two (2) Letters of Reference

Participation in the World Health Assembly

On April 28, 2009, Taiwan was invited to participate as an "observer" in the World Health Assembly under the name "Chinese Taipei" - the same one used in the Olympics.

Ideally, NATMA and Taiwan supporters worldwide hope that Taiwan can take its rightful place on the international stage with full acceptance to the World Health Organization, United Nations, and other international governing bodies. The importance of this was evident in the 2002-3 SARS outbreak, which affected Taiwan, and now again with the current H1N1 pandemic.

Is this first step into the WHA a good one? Only time will tell. But hopefully, you might take a moment to read a few comments from various sources:
