Taiwanese American Foundation Summer Conference for the 2nd Generation

August 5-12, 2007 at Manchester College in Indiana

TAF Mission:
To foster personal growth and develop servant leaders in the Taiwanese American community for the benefit of society.

About TAF:
The Taiwanese American Foundation is a non-profit organization which focuses on developing personal leadership in youth and building strong cultural and social ties within the Taiwanese American community. TAF strives to empower youth to explore and develop a strong sense of self, compassion and understanding of others, excellent interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities that will impact their surroundings and environment in a meaningful and unique way.

The Summer Camp Programs:
TAF focuses on youth from first grade through college, who grow through four different programs: Juniors (1st-5th grades), Junior High (6th-8th grades), Youth (9th-12th grades) and College. Each program takes special care to focus on the particular needs of that age group, while still emphasizing broader themes that are shared across the programs. An individual who grows up through the four unique but connected programs will be cultivated from the inside outwards -- first learning and understanding who they are internally and progressively turning their eyes to the world and community surrounding them. TAF also features a weekend program for parents.

The Theme:
Inspired by the common saying, "Service with a smile", this year's look at leadership will focus specifically on the concept of Servant Leadership. We’ll take a look at some unconventional qualities of a leader such as humility and a sacrificial attitude. We strongly believe that these often overlooked characteristics can make a great difference in the development of young leaders.
