Support Dr. Ching Shieh's Civil Liberties

Several Taiwanese American community organizations are requesting your support to express concern for Dr. Ching Shieh's civil liberties. It has been reported that he is being detained in an empty cell since 6/9/06 without any charges.

Dr. Shieh served as Deputy Minister of the National Science Council (NSC) in Taiwan. He is currently being investigated under suspicion of corruption regarding a project at the Southern Taiwan Science Park to reduce vibrations from the high-speed railway that is being built adjacent to the Science Park. Dr. Shieh has been arrested and is being held without bail, even though the prosecutors admit that they have not found any evidence of bribery or embezzlement.
